Synopsis
Based on the critically acclaimed novel of the same name, EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED tells the story of Jonathan Safran Foer (Elijah Wood), a young man who travels to the Ukraine to find the woman who saved his grandfather from the Nazis. When he enlists the help of Heritage Tours, he finds himself at the mercy of Alex Perchov (Eugene Hutz), his English-mangling translator, Alex’s grandfather (Boris Leskin), the group’s cranky – and seemingly blind – driver, and Sammy Davis Jr. Jr., Grandfather’s demented, seeing-eye bitch.
What starts out as a quest to piece together Jonathan’s family's story turns into a surprisingly meaningful journey with a powerful series of revelations -- the importance of remembrance, the perilous nature of secrets, the legacy of the Holocaust, and, most importantly, the meaning of friendship and love.
